“The Lord announces the word, and the women who proclaim it are a mighty throng” (Ps. 68:11, NIV).
“The Lord gives the word [of power]; the women who bear and publish [the news] are a great host” (Ps. 68:11, AMPC).
“Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest” (Matt. 9:38, emphasis added).
A Great Company of Women Arising
If we were to make a list of the hallmarks or main characteristics of this end-time harvest we’re now in, one of them would be just how very much God is already using women—and He will increasingly continue to do so. The clearest scriptural evidence of this is Psalm 68:11, which states, “The Lord announces the word, and the women who proclaim it are a mighty throng.” This reference may surprise some people, because both the KJV and the NKJV say “great was the company,” omitting the clear reference to women. Thus, it’s easy to overlook that David is prophetically speaking, and that one of the hallmarks of the great harvest will be just how very much God will use women!
Thankfully, the translations into both Japanese and Chinese got it correct, and both specify “a great company of women.” And please note that just because I’m pointing this out in no way downplays or lessens the roles of males, because obviously both men and women will be greatly used.
But in order to better understand how this role of women will play out, we have to also look at two other very important characteristics of this end-time harvest:
1. Most of the harvesting will be by everyday believers. Leaders and five-fold ministers will have their role, but the ones going everywhere sharing the word will be everyday believers (see Acts 8:1–4), which is a snapshot of how the gospel will spread so quickly in these next few years. All were scattered from Jerusalem (except the apostles). Via those everyday believers, the gospel spread rapidly.
2. Most of the harvesting will be spontaneous, non-organized, and naturally occurring, just as in the early church (see Acts 2:40–47). This may be the hardest of all the “shifts” to explain, because so many of us have the mindset that the church and its leaders have to direct things. But this is not so in scripture, which is very clear that as soon as the 3000 were saved on the day of Pentecost, they began to share and minister. They opened their homes, and were continually reaching out to friends and others. Not only were people being saved by these spontaneous, “unorganized- or seemingly happenstance” sharing/ministry encounters, but these same believers were also nurturing the new ones and fellowshiping continually. All of this was spontaneous, but of course was led by the Holy Spirit. And through it all, “the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved” (Acts 2:47). The apostles, of course, were holding daily gatherings in the temple where they continually ministered the word and ministered to the Lord. These daily large gatherings kept increasing in number because of all the new believers being brought in by the other, slightly less-new believers.
All of this makes me wonder if one of the things the 120 prayed in the upper room was for the Lord to raise up harvesters (see Matt. 9:38), because as soon as the 3,000 were saved and baptized, it seems that is what they all became. They all became harvesters! Wow!
Now, let’s circle back to the opening statement, “The Lord announces the word, and the women who proclaim it are a mighty throng” (Ps. 68:11). I believe David was speaking of the end-time harvest which is upon us now, and women will have a huge role. As everyday believers, we are all to be harvesters. The Holy Spirit will lead us to minister to people—as well as lead them to Jesus, nurture them, and connect them to the apostolic center you are part of. He wants all of this to be spontaneous and just a natural part of our daily lives. The time for the fulfillment of this is upon us!
Thanks for praying.

Praying for One Nation Every Day (from now until Passover next year)
Below is a simple, but powerful, summary of a prayer strategy from Apostle Karen Dey (New Zealand/Sri Lanka):
“She saw hosts of angels—some were worshiping and some blowing trumpets; others were warring angels. Then she was impressed by the Lord to ask people to get a world map and to pray each day for a different nation. From this year’s Passover until next year’s Passover—365 days of praying for the nations!”
I urge everyone to do this. Your prayers will turn desolate places into “camps of God.” Please refer to the update from May 8.
