“But at the end of the days [that is, at the seven periods of time], I, Nebuchadnezzar, raised my eyes toward heaven, and my understanding and reason returned to me; and I blessed the Most High [God] and I praised and honored and glorified Him who lives forever, For His dominion is an everlasting dominion; And His kingdom endures from generation to generation” (Dan. 4:34, AMP).

“When the Day of Pentecost had fully come … suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing, mighty wind” (Acts 2:1–2).

Need Healing? Feel Free to Contact Us

Last week I began to pray, “Lord, please allow more opportunities to pray/minister healing to people.” Almost immediately I felt led to announce this on the update. Please let us know of any healing needs you may have. Let’s also remember that Iyar is the month when the Lord said, “I am God, your healer (Jehovah-Rapha)” (Exod. 15:26). Please write us at info@rwsministries.com, or visit the MPP page on our website and connect with our ministry team.

Do I Really See Jesus as Lord of All Things?

(How to Prepare for Pentecost)

King Nebuchadnezzar was the greatest king of his time. But like all of us, he had to learn the truth that God is Lord of all. He had to learn that it was God who gave him that success. He had to see that God was ruler of all things. We need to come to the same conclusion. Regardless of one’s station in life, it is God who rules—and not just over you, but over the affairs of the whole earth.

God gave Nebuchadnezzar two major dreams that Daniel interpreted for him. In the first dream, Nebuchadnezzar was portrayed as the gold head of a statue that Daniel explained meant God had given him great power and authority and rulership (Dan. 2:37–38). In the second dream, Nebuchadnezzar saw a great tree that would be cut down and only the stump would remain. Daniel explained that because the king refused to recognize God, he would be dealt with severely for seven years. Daniel urged him to humble himself so that the judgment might be averted (Dan. 4:26–27).

Nebuchadnezzar was undoubtedly alarmed and at first took the warning seriously, but eventually he forgot about it. One year later he was musing on his own greatness and was immediately judged by God and became “insane.” He lost his position as king and lived as a wild animal. But at the end of seven years—true to His word—God’s mercy was poured out when Nebuchadnezzar looked up to God and acknowledged Him. Nebuchadnezzar’s sanity and reason were immediately restored, as was his position and authority as king. Not only that, but God increased him.

What are we to learn from this?

  1. First and foremost, know God is Lord over everyone and everything, including yourself and everything that has to do with you. This must be part of your “DNA.”

  2. God prefers that we learn this willingly and voluntarily. Unfortunately, it’s so easy to say and know the right words, but to believe and act oppositely.

  3. God in His mercy allows difficult times to come. Each difficulty is an opportunity to draw near to Him and trust Him more and to learn this truth. We are repeatedly told in scripture to rejoice in trials (e.g., Rom. 5:3; Jam. 1:2; 1 Pet. 4:12–13).

  4. It took Nebuchadnezzar seven years to figure it out. It need only take us a few minutes.

  5. Not having the “certainty” that Jesus is Lord of everything causes stress and anxiety, and also hinders and restricts the God’s blessings to you.

  6. God wants to increase us. Not only was everything restored for Nebuchadnezzar, but in addition “excellent majesty was added” (Dan. 4:36). He increased.

  7. Isn’t this how we can best be prepared for Pentecost? To know beyond a shadow of doubt that Jesus is Lord? God restored everything and more to Nebuchadnezzar after seven years. How much more does He want to restore to us after forty-nine days—seven weeks.
