“If the Lord delights in us, then He will bring us into this land and give it to us, ‘a land which flows with milk and honey’” (Num. 14:8).

The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way” (Ps. 37:23).

Please Note:

  • MPP Summer Break (August 3–21)—Please pray for the prophetic team members of MPP. They are such a key for us. Please ask the Lord to refresh them during this needed summer break, August 3–21. MPP will then resume on Monday, August 24.

  • Yarn Alive—No summer break for the Yarn Alive women. They are so happy to be meeting with each other again. Please pray for protection.

Realize the Lord Delights in You!

We are in this amazing time period where the Lord is speeding up processes for all His people. He wants us to more fully enter our destiny and callings because the time of harvest is at hand. This year more than ever, we have to pay attention to firstfruits and the blessings and focuses of each particular Hebrew month. This month of Av includes points about watching and being concerned. It was on Av 8–9 that the children of Israel heard the ten spies’ negative reports and decided it was impossible to enter the Promised Land. Ever since then, Av 9 has served as a reminder to God’s people to be very watchful.

The reason that first generation failed was mostly due to wrong mindsets. I think there are two wrong mindsets to deal with. The first one is that most of us already know about: Don’t underestimate ourselves/Realize God is leading—He will make it happen. The ten spies were all competent, qualified leaders. But somehow they fell under the power of the spirits of the land. They saw the fortresses as impenetrable, and the enemy as big as giants and themselves as small as grasshoppers (Num. 13:31–33). Their fear affected the Israelites, and all except Joshua and Caleb decided to run back to Egypt. We, too, can fall under the power of spirits in our nations and start seeing the problems as bigger than God and get discouraged.

Most of us know the solution—they should have reminded themselves of God’s goodness—reminded themselves of all the miracles He had already done. They should have made a choice of faith, like Caleb, who said, “Let us go up at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome it” (13:30, emphasis added). I like that phrase “at once.” Don’t start thinking you will deal with problems in the far-off future. Make an immediate decision to not disbelieve. As soon as you do, faith will spring up.

The Main Issue—Realize the Lord Delights in Us. Joshua told the people, “If the Lord delights in us, then He will bring us into this land and give it to us” (Num. 14:8, emphasis added). I think this encapsulates the main reason why that whole generation failed. They didn’t know God delighted in them—that He loved them. I would further say that if you or I also fail, this will probably be the root of the reason why. Most of us have the correct theological understanding that God loves us. But do we know that He delights in us? This is key.

This morning I was praying in tongues and it suddenly dawned on me that I am far more comfortable serving God and doing things for Him than I am with asking Him to do things for me. In fact, much of my praying is either for other people or for the Holy Spirit to help me as I minister. (And yes, He does lead and anoint, and I am amazed at how much He does.)

But that’s not the same as asking Him to do things personally for me. It’s not that I don’t want Him to do things for me; it’s more that I don’t realize He delights in me and would love to shower good things upon me. So I tend not to ask. And James says, “You do not have because you do not ask” (4:2).

I think I’m like a lot of people in this. There is something in the foundation of our lives or in our DNA that doesn’t want us to experience this. However, we must. We have to come to the place where we know the Lord delights in us. It’s from this revelation that true faith springs up and true love flows. David knew it. Daniel knew it. Peter and Paul knew it. In this present generation, you and I must also know it.

I thank God that most of us are committed to Him and are diligent in serving Him. Yes, it is very pleasing to the Lord. But we have to let Him keep breaking up whatever wrong foundations or mindsets are keeping us from knowing He delights in us.

Thank you, Lord, that you delight in us. This is amazing and beyond our understanding. As we look to you and celebrate you, we know that you will keep working in us to bring us to experience your delight in us.

Thanks so much for praying!
