“In Your Presence is fullness of joy” (Ps. 16:11, NKJV).

“And I will put an end to all her mirth, her feasts, her new moons, her Sabbaths, and all her appointed feasts” (Hos. 2:11, ESV).

“Sing O barren, you who have not borne! Break forth into singing and cry aloud. … For more are the children of the desolate … Enlarge the place of your tent” (Isa. 54:1–2).

Changing Our “Default” from Solemnity to Joy

The other day I read Hosea 2:11. It struck me how much the Lord has always intended that His feast days and holy days were meant to be times of joy and celebration. This also includes the Sabbath. I pondered how by the time of the gospels the Sabbath had become a hard, legalistic, and strikingly non-joyful day.

The next morning, MPP was about celebrating first fruits for the month of Tammuz (June 23–July 21) (video is here). So I began talking about joy, because each month is meant to be a time of joyful celebration with family, friends, and most importantly with the Lord.

The more we talked about joy, the more we began to see that many of us seem to have a default setting to “solemnity and non-joy.” We may have times of great joy and celebration, but invariably we find ourselves drifting back to being overly serious and solemn. Even worse is we think this is who we are or how we should act. Along with that is a kind of semi-condemnation that “I am not really doing my best, and surely the Lord is not with me.”

This is wrong. It is not the Lord’s default setting for us. Yes, there may be times of difficulty and sadness. There may be times of solemnity. But the Lord always wants us to return to joy. Think of the Israelites in Nehemiah’s time. They heard the reading of the word of God and keenly felt their own shortcomings. But the leaders wouldn’t let them grieve. Rather, they were told to choose to rejoice, because “The joy of the Lord is your strength” (Neh. 8:10).

So let this month be a time of shining. How? Choose to rejoice daily. Deliberately choose joy. This brings His presence. Watch how quickly our default will change to what it is supposed to be—the joy of the Lord.

Three Weeks to Break Barrenness and Enter Enlargement (June 14–July 5)

We are in the second week of praying in tongues for thirty minutes a day to break barrenness. On Sunday, June 14, I had been speaking about praying in tongues and how it can be likened to the blowing of the trumpet/shofar in the Old Testament (video is here). God led me to Isaiah 54:1–2 about enlargement. But I found my eyes fastened on the word barrenness, and knew the Lord wanted to break it. I found myself saying that if we would pray in tongues for thirty minutes a day, barrenness in our lives would be broken. In my spirit, I asked “how long?” and felt the Lord say for three weeks. I was reminded of Daniel and how God immediately released the angel with the answer. However, it took twenty-one days of prayer and spiritual warfare in order for that angel to break through to Daniel (see Daniel 10:1–13). I felt that three weeks was the time frame the Lord wanted us to follow.

So please feel free to join us. Pray in tongues thirty minutes a day and watch barrenness (physical, spiritual, and even financial) break! Thank you, Lord, for this strategy!

Yarn Alive Update

This week Teddy held the sixth annual board meeting for Yarn Alive. (There are lots of regulations to comply with because Yarn Alive is a registered legal entity.) But it is all good news. Yarn Alive has come through this nearly four-month period of inactivity without income. Our Heavenly Father has provided for everything.

Thank you for praying for Yarn Alive. Be sure to pray for and thank the Lord for the other three women who serve as board members, as well as the two part-time staff (one does bookkeeping and the other communications and publicity).

If you are interested in helping financially, please contact or visit

Thanks so much for praying!

Ron and Teddy
